The Role Our clients are seeking an experienced and hands-on Station Manager to oversee the daily operations of their Bar H fattening block. This role is crucial for managing cattle performance from induction through to sale, focusing on monitoring and driving weight gains to meet market targets. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing induction, drafting, treatments, and dispatch, as well as pasture utilisation and feed planning. You will also maintain the property to a high standard, including waters, fencing, yards, and plant, perform general maintenance, keep clear and accurate records, and work closely with the owners on planning, budgets, and turnoff targets. We are also looking for reliable and hard-working Station Hand(s) to join the team, working alongside the Station Manager across all aspects of daily station duties. Responsibilities include mustering on horse and/or buggy, drafting, branding, and processing cattle, yard work and cattle handling, checking waters and fencing, general station maintenance and repairs, operating machinery and plant, weed control and property upkeep, and assisting with trucking and livestock movements. The Ideal Candidate We are seeking dedicated, experienced, and hands-on individuals with strong stockmanship and practical skills for both the management and station hand positions: For the Manager: Proven experience in backgrounding or finishing cattle, strong understanding of weight gain targets and market specs, good stockmanship and attention to detail, practical mechanical and maintenance skills, organised, accountable, and a current driver's licence (HR preferred). For the Station Hand(s): A positive attitude and strong work ethic, good stock sense and willingness to learn, ability to work in a team and follow direction, basic mechanical skills preferred, and buggy and horse experience advantageous.
